Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino
About
The Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino was a boutique Asian-themed casino resort that opened in November 2016, notable as the first ground-up casino resort built in Las Vegas since The Cosmopolitan in 2010. Financed primarily through the EB-5 immigrant investor program, the $160 million property was designed to cater specifically to Asian gamblers and tourists with authentic Chinese and Japanese restaurants, feng shui-inspired design, and a tea garden. The 9-story, 203-room property featured a 27,500 square foot casino floor with 37 table games and 300 slot machines. Despite initial optimism, the Lucky Dragon struggled to attract sufficient business. The casino closed in January 2018, and the hotel followed in October 2018. The property filed for bankruptcy and was eventually sold at auction, reopening in 2020 as the Ahern Hotel, a non-gaming boutique hotel.
