About
The Queen of Hearts Hotel & Casino had a modest but historically significant existence in downtown Las Vegas. Originally opened in 1963 as the Casbah Hotel, the property was renamed the Queen of Hearts in 1990 when it was purchased by Ann Meyers, making it notable as the first woman-owned casino in Las Vegas. The small 3-story property featured 100 rooms and a tiny 5,000 square foot casino with just 5 table games and 100 slot machines. Despite its small size, the Queen of Hearts served as an affordable downtown option for budget travelers for over a decade. The property closed in 2007 and was demolished in February 2010 to make way for the new Las Vegas City Hall, which now occupies the site.
