Clarion Hotel & Casino

Off-Strip 2.8 Est. 1970 Various Owners

About

The Clarion Hotel & Casino had one of the most colorful histories of any Las Vegas property, operating under at least six different names over 44 years. It opened in 1970 as the Royal Inn, then became the Royal Americana (1980), the Paddlewheel Hotel & Casino (1983), the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Hotel (1992, purchased by actress Debbie Reynolds who filled it with Hollywood memorabilia), the Greek Isles Hotel & Casino (2001), and finally the Clarion Hotel & Casino (2010). The 12-story, 200-room property near the Convention Center struggled throughout its existence due to its tiny 6,600 square foot casino floor. It closed on September 1, 2014, and was demolished by implosion on February 10, 2015. The site has remained largely vacant, with plans for the Majestic Las Vegas announced but not yet realized.
